Albert J. Janko was born on February 18, 1918. He was a graduate of John Adams High School and was employed by the Foot-Burt Co. He had been in service for three years and overseas for nearly two. Janko was a veteran of the North African and Sicilian campaigns. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France at the age of 26 and is now buried in Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA.
