Curtiss Burchett was born on May 27, 1922. He was the son of William Andrew Burchett and Alta Caroline Caudill Burchett. Curtiss served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Sparks Cemetery, Blaine, Lawrence County, Kentucky, USA.
