Foster G. Nickerson was born on April 5, 1919 in New Jersey. He was the son of Leslie Allen Nickerson and Catherine Foster Nickerson. Foster served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade in the 7th Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France at the age of 25 and is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry monument in Omaha Beach, France and ranked as a Corporal.
