Charles Norris Donoghue was born in 1916 in Delaware. He was the son of A. N. Donoghue and Mary Green Donoghue. He enlisted in the Army on August 7, 1941, prior to the war, in Trenton, New Jersey. Charles served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant in the 745th Tank Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France and is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
