Clinton Case Kwaak was born on December 24, 1924 in Sayville, Suffolk County, New York. He enlisted in the Army in February, 1943, and served in North Africa and Sicily before being assigned to the Normandy invasion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade in the 1st Signal Company, 1st Infantry Division. Clinton died on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France when he stepped on a land mine. His legs were badly hurt and he could not walk. Sgt Galansky got some morphine from the Medics and administered it to Clinton. He told Clinton that he would get the Medics and come back to him. He did this and told Clinton that he looked OK and asked if he was in pain. Clinton said that he could tolerate it so far now that he had the morphine. Sgt Galansky then went back up the incline; Clinton died. He is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
