Marvin Robert Beals, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beals, was born on July 13, 1917. He was inducted on March 19, 1942 and served in the field artillery. Late in 1943, he landed at Casa Blanca, and served in the African campaign. As an experienced veteran, he was in the first wave for the invasion of Sicily. Now a Corporal, he was classified as Technician Fifth Grade. Because of their experience, his outfit was chosen to spearhead the invasion of Normandy. up until that time, Marvin had never been wounded. In the early stages of the invasion of France, Marvin was Killed in Action June 6, 1944 at Omaha Beach. He is now buried in Fairview Cemetery, Manton, Wexford County, Michigan, USA.
