Doyle Guthery Bankson was born in 1921 in Darke County, Ohio. He was the son of Roy Bankson and Blanche Elmerta Robbins Bankson. Doyle served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 28, 1944 and is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Old Teegarden Cemetery, Woodington, Darke County, Ohio, USA
