John Joseph Shaughnessy was born on October 16, 1917 in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Edward J. Shaughnessy and Anna C. O'Donnell Shaughnessy. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a First Lieutenant in Company H, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France at the age of 26 and is now buried in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.
