Roy H. Thomas, Jr., aged 24, was born on April 9, 1920. He was the son of Roy Hooker Thomas and Martha Belle Smith Thomas. He served in the 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He died on July 21, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla, Italy and is now buried in the Thomas Family Cemetery, Snow Hill, Greene County, North Carolina, USA.
