William Theodore Sherrill, aged 31, was born on January 29, 1913 in Iredell County, North Carolina. He was the son of William Lee Sherrill and Hariett M. Sherrill. He entered the service on November 6, 1942, receiving his training at Camp White, Oregon and went overseas in April 1944. William served in the 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on October 13, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla, Italy and is now buried in the Oakwood Cemetery, Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina, USA.
