Leo Ellison Shaffer, aged 24, was born on August 15, 1920 in Iowa. He was the son of Burl Benjamin Shaffer and Anna Jane McHugh Shaffer. Leo served in the 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 17, 1945 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla, Italy and is now buried in the Saint Bridget's Cemetery, Magnolia, Harrison County, Iowa, USA.
