Arnold Dean Shaffer, aged 20, was born on February 17, 1944 in Coffey County, Kansas. He was the son of Scott A. Shaffer and Mary Isch Shaffer. He served in the 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on October 12, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla, Italy and is now buried in the Gridley Cemetery, Gridley, Coffey County, Kansas, USA.
