Walter Herman Schirmer, aged 24, was born on January 14, 1920 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. He was the son of Lawrence Carl Schirmer and Hazel Belle Todd Schirmer. Walter served in the 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on October 1, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla, Italy and is now buried in the Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.
