Enlisted on July 17, 1943 from Washington County, Minnesota. Assigned as a litter bearer in an anti-tank company, Raymond was killed by artillery shrapnel as he was trying to recover a wounded comrade on 25 September 1944 in Italy: Per Western Union, dated 127 am Oct. 20 1944. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his actions on the battlefield near Traversa, Italy. He has two memorials located in Calvary Cemetery, Anoka, Anoka County and Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake, Washington County both in Minnesota, but, it is unconfirmed where he is actually buried.
