Ferdinand Henry August Meyners, aged 24, was born on August 31, 1919 in Sioux County, Iowa. He was the son of J. Henry Meyners and A. Emma Waege Meyners. He entered the military service on November 6, 1942 and received his training at Camp Robertson, Ark., Fort Adair, Ore., and then at Camp White, Ore. Ferdinand had been overseas two and one half months when killed in action. He served in the 363rd Infantry, 91st Infantry Division as a Technician Fifth Grade during World War II. He died on July 16, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla in Italy and is now buried in the Saint John Cemetery, Boyden, Sioux County, Iowa, USA.
