J. W. McClendon, aged 24, was born on December 15, 1920. He was the son of Ira O. McClendon and Mary A. Ottwell McClendon. He served in the 363rd Infantry, 91st Infantry Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He died on December 26, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla in Italy and is now buried in the Forest Park Cemetery, Greenville, Hunt County, Texas, USA.
