John F. Czajka was born in Milwaukee on April 7, 1893. He was among the first killed in action in France in WW1 while serving in the US Army during World War I as a Sergeant in Company I, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Vigneulles, France and in Bathelmont but his surname is inscribed as Czajki.
