Joseph David Higdon, Jr., aged 20, was born on November 16, 1923 in Denison, Grayson County, Texas. He was the son of Joseph David Higdon and Mildred Lee Bruton Higdon. Joseph served in the 363rd Infantry, 91st Infantry Division as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on September 15, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla in Italy and is now buried in the Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, McLennan County, Texas, USA.
