Marcelo M. Garcia, Jr., aged 24, was born on February 12, 1921. He was the son of Marcelo Bernal Garcia and Anita Moreno Garcia. Marcelo served in the 363rd Infantry, 91st Infantry Division as a Sergeant during World War II. Sgt. Garcia was shot in the chest four times with one bullet hitting just a fraction away from his heart. He was one to not complain nor show any pain or discomfort. He always kept a positive demeanor. He was hospitalized in a German hospital but once he was stable he would be transferred to a US Military Hospital. On the fourth day while still at the Germany Hospital he sadly passed. He is now buried in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, Mercedes, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA.
