Lester Clifford Fleharty was born on April 27, 1921 in Lewistown, Fergus County, Montana. He was the son of Clifford Francis Fleharty and Pearl Iva Heald Tobin. He enlisted in the Army on September 16, 1940 in Montana and served in the 363rd Infantry, 91st Infantry Division as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. Lester died on October 13, 1944 during the battle in the area of Ponzalla in Italy and is now buried in the Florence American Cemetery, Impruneta, Italy.
