Theodore Clifford Caywood, aged 20, was born on May 3, 1924 in Oklahoma. Theodore was single and a graduate of Jay High School, class of 1943, when he enlisted at Tulsa on July 26, 1943. He qualified as an expert rifleman and earned the Good Conduct Medal and Purple Heart. He served with the 363rd Infantry Regiment of the 91st Infantry Division as a Private First Class. Theodore died on July 7, 1944 in the battle around the area of Ponzalla in Italy and is now buried in the Florence American Cemetery, Impruneta, Italy.
