When Dennis F. Zeh was born in 1895 in Howes Cave, New York, his father, Adam, was 35 and his mother, Rozalia, was 24. He had four brothers and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company D, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 21, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
