When Arvid W. Heidenberg was born on April 11, 1896, in Fargo, North Dakota, his father, Carl, was 24 and his mother, Mathilda, was 25. He had one brother and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company L, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as a Private.
