Details:

On the north side of D3, immediately after its intersection with D75. Directly on the side of the road. Marker

This white concrete stele bears the red diamond insignia of the 5th infantry division and two plaques. It is one of 27 such steles that mark significant locations for the US 5th infantry division during WWI.

The first plaque (the white one) signifies that the 5th ID was at that location on 12 September 1918 during the Battle of St. Mihiel.

The second plaque signifies that at the location of this stele, the 5th ID broke through the German defenses of the Moselle River in September, 1944, a major accomplishment for the Allies.
