Directly in front of the Madeleine church. Statue A bronze statue by Emile Bourdelle, put in place in 1923, reprensenting France. The figure is on a stone pedestal with french text. The memorial salutes the American Army for its service during World War I.

La France à la Pointe de Grave salue l'escadre et l'armée libre des Etats-Unis d'Amérique. Grande guerre 1914-1918. FRANCE AT THE POINTE DE GRAVE SALUTES THE TROOPS AND FREE ARMY OF THE UNITED STATES. THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918. La France défendant le droit porte en armure l'égide d'Athène, à droite le bouclier né des tables des lois et la lance invincible arisée d'olivier. FRANCE, DEFENDING JUSTICE, CARRIES IN HER ARMOR THE LIKENESS OF ATHENA. TO THE RIGHT ARE THE SHIELD, MADE OF TABLETS OF LAW, AND THE INVINCIBLE SPEAR ENTWINED WITH OLIVE BRANCHES. Le bras gauche en chapiteau, la main abrite le regard qui lie l'Amérique à la France, du sol s'érigent la colonne et le serpent de Pallas ou sagesse de la France. HER LEFT ARM RAISED ABOVE HER HEAD, HER HAND SHADING HER GAZE THAT LINKS AMERICA TO FRANCE, FROM THE GROUND RISES THE COLUMN AND THE SERPENT OF PALLAS OR THE WISDOM OF FRANCE.
