Volunteer Ambulance Fountain

In the center of the square. Commemorative Object

A large fountain which honors the American Field Service Ambulance drivers who served from 1915 to 1917.  The fountain was constructed in 1931, and closely resembles the previous fountain which was destroyed in 1867.  Architects Vial and Welles Bosworth of the Rockefeller foundation, sculptor Siégel, and metal worker Valentin worked on the fountain, which was inaugurated on 27 Sept 31.
