n the right post at the entrance to the cemetery. Plaque The British Halifax DT 726 NF H Sqn 138 RAF left on 3 novembre 1943 at 1920 from Tempsford for operation JOHN 13.  It crashed in the area.  The six British aviators who were killed are buried here.  Capt J.A.Estes (801/492 US Bomb Group USAAF) who was on board for an initiation mission, is buried at the Rhone American Cemetery in Draguigan (83).  Sgt J.F.Borough, the sole survivor, evaded capture and resumed his service in the RAF. He died on 5 septembre 1994, and his ashes are spread among his comrades in the cemetery.

English translation:

Here rest six aviators of the RAF, RCAF and RAAF whose plane crashed on the Rocks of Bourboulas on 4 November 1943 while on a parachute delivery mission bringing arms to the French Resistance.
