On the grounds of the former NAS Moutchic Lacanau.

   

Monument
An obelisk about 3 meters high surrounded by 4 granite blocks with wrought iron anchors at each corner linked with an iron chain. The name of nine US Naval aviators are commemorated on the monument. The text is engraved into the obelisk, and the names are also reproduced on a plastic plaque on the base.

Neuf pilotes et marins

dont les noms sont portés sur cette stèle , érigée en 1919,

ont trouvé la mort à l'apprentissage en vol

ou au cours de leur mission au sol

 

Trois pilotes ayant séjourné au Moutchic

ont donné leur vie au combat

dans l'Océan Atlantique et en Mer du Nord

their Country & Humanity.

 

It was renovated in 2017 for the

Memorial Day

 

the US Naval Air Station le Moutchic

was established on this space from June 1917

to November 1918 by the United State Navy.

Nine pilots and sailors

whose names are carried on this stele, erected in 1919,

died in flight learning

or during their ground mission

 

Three pilots who stayed at the Moutchic

gave their lives in combat

in the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea
