On the opposite side of Highway 1 from the Task Force Smith Memorial. Marker A small stone stele marking the site where Private Kenneth Shadrick died from machine gun fire while engaging a North Korean tank with a bazooka. Shadrick is noted as being the first American casualty of the Korean War.
