At the eastern side of the intersection at the base of the hill.

Plaque
A grey marble plaque with a gold-leaf inscription that is written in French honoring the members of the two American air crews downed in the area that were killed in June and August 1944.

A B-24 (42-95280) "Sunon Square Dance" was shot down on 27 June 44, killing four. (Four other crewmembers escaped and two were taken prisoner.) 


The crew members were: 1st Lt Clifton G. Miller (recovered), 2nd Lt Ralph L. HALL (recovered), 1st Lt Arlee T. RENO (deceased), 2nd Lt Walter A. STRYCHASZ (deceased), T/Sgt John H. LEAHY (deceased), T/Sgt Waynne E. BRAND (recovered), Cpl Edward L. SMITH (prisoner), S/Sgt Walter B. SCHUM (deceased), S/Sgt William H. SALIO (prisoner), and S/Sgt John F. GOAN (recovered).

A P-38 was shot down on 25 August 1944, killing the pilot, Joseph B. Stone.
