This memorial is located on Rollbahn A about 180 feet northwest of the Belgian/German border near Siegfried (Westwall) line emplacements. Monument


This memorial marks where on 16 December 1944, the German 277 Volksgrenadier Division assaulted the 393rd Infantry Regiment of the 99th U.S. Infantry Division in the opening phase of the Battle of the Bulge. There is a wooden sign with an inscription in German honoring the event.

Monument Text:

In this spot, early in the morning began the German Ardennes Offensive on the 16th of December 1944. 

Soldiers of the 277 VGD and the U.S. 99th ID met here in heavy fighting. 

This joint memorial commemorates the sacrifice of both sides.
